“Hello? Anyone?” Darla called and sniffed.

“The only person who can’t leave. Well fuzzy, haven’t you found yourself in a pickle? Blind, naked, and unwanted in a place where there’s nowhere to hide or escape.” Omega snickered.

Darla looked at the ground and took a deep breath. Forgive myself and ask others for forgiveness. Kita’s shown me how it’s done. I might as well start with my oldest rival. “I’m sorry, Omega. I’ve never been fair to you, especially when it comes to Kita. You had her first, and I think in some ways she’s always loved you more.”

“I’m going to store that and play it back when I get depressed. Have you done what Kita told you to do?”

“Forgive myself? How do I do that?”

“I thought it was self-explanatory. You admit you were wrong, maybe beat yourself up about it, learn the life lessons, try not to make the same mistakes, and get on with life.”

“What about the guilt and shame?”

“I believe if you forgive yourself those go away, or at least become easier to deal with. From my thirty seconds of research on the topic, if you don’t forgive yourself eventually, they eat you alive. If I read that right.”

“It’s been eating me for five thousand years. Is there a process to it?”

“Aren’t you the scientific type? Not that I can find. I think it’s a personal ritual. Some burn candles, others throw stones in rivers, a few hardcore types mark their bodies.”

“I like the idea of lighting candles. Do we have some?”

“As many as you’re going to need? The beehive is going to be working overtime. I’m sure I can scrounge some up. Where would you like to do it?”

“The large viewing area. There should be enough room there.”

Omega sputtered. “Kita’s sanctuary? Are you crazy? Hang on, I’ll ask…She says yes. Ok, I’ll have them moved in as soon as I make them. While I’m making stuff, would you like some clothes?”

“No. If Kita can beg forgiveness naked, so can I.”

“Oh boy, guess what I get to look at…”

Darla wiped her nose. “Please, be nice.”

“Ok, fuzzy. Come on. Let’s get started.”
